Ford Transit – Fabrication of Driver’s Step and Sills, and Replacement of Leaf Springs

Still a firm favourite of tradesmen across the realm, but unfortunately Ford Transits do suffer from rust a little  – more than some.

This particular Ford Transit was booked in after we highlighted problems discovered while AGS were carrying out an annual service on the van.

The driver’s side step was replaced along with inner and outer sills. Initially, it seemed like a massive job but in fact, turned out to be a pretty much a run-of-the-mill job for our fabricator guru, Russ.

The Transit fabrication and repair job was turned out in 1 day along with changing the rear leaf springs. The springs were changed as they are starting to crack around the front bushings.

Mazda Bongo – Rear Arch and Front Cross Member Repairs

AGS seem to have cornered the market in Mazda Bongo arch repairs, keeping much of the work in-house and therefore, a quick turn-around.

Keeping matters efficient, Russ manages to keep a lot of the original arch while cutting only the rust away.

Repair sections are made in-house and flush welded. These type of repairs are of a professional standard and only require a body shop to do a light fill and smooth, and then paint.

The Mazda Bongo was then sent for it’s MOT and later in the day, one happy customer collected his vehicle
